The Hawk Board Election 2018

The Hawk Board election for the 6 specialist members of the Board will take place this year. Those elected will serve for a term of 4 years. The result of the election will be announced on 31st August 2018.

The elections relate to the election of the 6 specialist members who are elected by the members of the Clubs affiliated to the Board. Club and non-club members are eligible to stand for election to the Board, but every candidate must be proposed and seconded by members of a Club or other Association affiliated to the Hawk Board and who must sign the candidates nomination form along with the candidate. I will send out nomination forms upon receipt of an application by letter or e-mail. Each candidate must write a paragraph about him/herself of not more than 100 words and return it with the nomination form to reach me by no later than 15th June 2018. These profiles will accompany the voting papers when sent out.

Candidates will be expected to have an understanding of National and International legislation, policy from DEFRA & Animal Health, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) relating to birds of prey, and an awareness of the threats against falconry and hawk keeping.

Candidates must not be subject to, nor have been convicted of, any criminal charge in any country for offences concerning birds of prey.

In early July the voting papers and candidates profiles will be posted, for return no later than 24th August 2018 to an independant verifier for the count. The result will be announced on 31st August 2018.

The first meeting of the new Board will take place in October, 2018 when the new Hawk Board Chairman and Vice-Chairman will be elected by members of the Board.

CLOSING DATE 15th June 2018

Forms received after this date will not be accepted.

Kind regards
