Defra - Avian Influenza Latest Situation

Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 has been confirmed at a premises near Tow Law, Bishop Auckland, County Durham.
A 3km Captive Bird (Monitoring) Controlled Zone has been put in place around the premises. Further information about this case is available on GOV.UK.
An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory biosecurity measures is also in force across Great Britain.
All bird keepers must follow the stringent biosecurity measures in addition to following any Protection/Surveillance Zone or Captive Bird (Monitoring) Controlled Zone restrictions in their area to prevent future outbreaks.
