Defra - Avian Influenza Latest Situation

Four cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 have been confirmed as follows:
• a large commercial poultry premises near Feltwell, King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, Norfolk
• a large commercial poultry premises near Attleborough, Breckland, Norfolk
• a large commercial poultry premises near Alford, East Lindsey, Lincolnshire
• a second large commercial poultry premises near Thirsk, Thirsk and Malton, North Yorkshire.
A 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone have been put in place around each premises. Further information about these cases is available on GOV.UK: www.gov.uk/birdflu.
An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory housing measures is in place in England. An AIPZ with mandatory biosecurity measures is also in force across Great Britain: http://www.gov.uk/.../bird-flu-regional-avian-influenza....
All bird keepers should remain vigilant and follow stringent biosecurity measures as detailed on GOV.UK: www.gov.uk/birdflu and follow any housing measures/Protection/Surveillance Zone restrictions in their area that apply to prevent future outbreaks.
