West Nile Virus
Reports of West Nile virus
In recent years West Nile Virus has caused significant losses in both wild and captive raptors in continental Europe and North America. Many UK falconers will be concerned about recent reports of WNV DNA being identified in mosquitos in the UK. There have been no clinical cases in birds reported at this time. The hawk board would advise falconers to be vigilant of any signs of ill health in their birds and for concerns to be discussed with your avian veterinarian.
