Defra - Avian Influenza Latest Situation

Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 has been confirmed at a premises near Welshpool, Powys.
A 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone have been put in place around the premises. The Surveillance Zone extends into England. Further information about this case and the latest information is available on GOV.Wales: www.gov.wales/birdflu and GOV.UK: www.gov.uk/birdflu.
An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory housing measures is now in place across England and an AIPZ with mandatory biosecurity measures remains in force across Great Britain http://www.gov.uk/.../bird-flu-regional-avian-influenza....
All bird keepers should remain vigilant and follow stringent biosecurity measures in addition to following any Protection/Surveillance Zone restrictions in their area to prevent future outbreaks.
